Driftwood Dreams

I took the trail down to perfection
A place of joy, with deep emotion
How many times did we discuss
There was never a disconnect with us
Sharp turns, and we had to slow down
You interpret that as drifting alone
I saw it as an adventure downstream
You sang your usual melancholy theme
No way of getting out, you are trapped
The first glimpse of a way out, you snapped
I traced with my fingers, you painted me
Imagined us not you and me, but we
The afterman woke me up from my dream
He kissed my eyes, my ears, reality
You were my holiday, but let's get back to real life.

June

This month, I get to celebrate my darling Newo Ikkin. Last year, she adopted me into her heart. In these twelve months, we have traveled over 7 states, we've moved to San Diego together, we camped, backpacked, hiked, and played a minimum of 365 games of ball.
Our lives have been totally different since we've been together. I've learned a lot of patience, as well as putting her before me. I've learned to love someone completely, despite their flaws; and I think she has, too. It's been a wild adventure so far, and I can't wait to spend many more years with my little Woofus. She does a perfect job at loving me, through her affectionate heart and her persistent nature. Even in the darkest moments of the last year, she has been a great light for me. It's so comforting to know that, even if she is an animal, she loves me unconditionally. And I love her too. Mushy gushy, stuff, I know. Get over it.

Question of the blog:
JUNE is also the month that I get to celebrate my sweet sister's birthday. We live two states away, so it is very hard to get together to celebrate with her. I hope I see her again soon. What does the month of June represent for you?

It Was Easter

And after speaking to one of the most inspirational people in my life today, I realized a few things.
1. I need to write more
2. I need to sing more
3. I need to photograph more
Thank you for inspiring me, my dear friend. Just watch.. by the end of this week im going to have proof I did all these things. And soon enough they'll all be back in my routine.
I love you.

And happy Easter to all of you. By His wounds we are healed.

Double Rainbow Worthy Night Of Celebration

Image Via WeHeartIt

So... Tomorrow is Cinco De Mayo's half birthday. On a more serious note...

REMEMBER, REMEMBER, THE FIFTH OF NOVEMBER...

Hopefully I'll be celebrating either. I am in dire need of some human connection.

Question of the blog:
Are you a big celebrator of holidays, or do you lay low on occasions that involve dressing up, cheersing, and the like?

October

I cut open a gaping hole,
it reveals all the things I must remove.
To dig deep, scraping, cutting,
digging into the impurities.
Taking time, deep inside my mind.
I carve out how I see myself,
with moons and stars, I follow the night.
Oak trees, rooted firmly,
disconnected, old and withered.

And as I finish my pumpkin,
I am reminded that it's the end of October. Time is moving too fast.

One More Time

Sunday night, Jillian and I had a Christmas party. One last hurrah for me before I move.

For all who attended, thank you, it was great seeing you.

Until next time,..

Nineteen Shores

We hit May
this day marks

your baby's birth

and meadowlarks

No time to rest these tired eyes
as I travel to the ocean's shore
I've walked this world for nineteen years
Not once have been lead here before

In nineteen years I've seen three lands
East went West and West went South
I set my eyes on what I'd want
Listening to what came from your mouth

But it's my birthday tomorrow
and as I bite my tongue
I've remembered yesterday
I was nineteen years young

Those words that come just once a year
They roll right off your lips
Happy birthday to you, doll
has come and gone like sailing ships

Looking down the rusted boat
water splashing up the side
You and I are ever changing
Just like the ocean's tide.

We hit May
this day marks

your baby's birth

and meadowlarks

But it's my birthday tomorrow
and as I bite my tongue
I've remembered yesterday
I was nineteen years young

Red Is The Occasion

My heart is all a-flutter about Valentine's Day. Why, you might ask. To be honest, I have no clue! I have never really been one to be excited for Valentine's Day, but I think I have an idea why I am anticipating it greatly. I get to see my boyfriend, of course! That and I absolutely adore any occasion where I can dress up! This Valentine's Day, Andy and I are going on a hike at Torrey Pines State Reserve, and then having dinner at Masala, which looks incredible inside and also has a splendid menu. I just can't wait!
Also, I have this thing for red lipstick right now. I think tonight calls for some dress up and a movie. Mull over these cutesy precious photos for a while, and I'd love to hear your response to my question below.

Question of the blog:
A very close source once told me that the times I look prettiest are when I've taken time to dress up, and when I am wearing my "comfy cozies" as we say. I thought it was interesting how it was both sides of the formality spectrum that made me appear most attractive to him. I was reminded of this statement today, so now, here is your question!
Boys: Do you prefer a girl dressed up or down? Does dress up for special occasions make girls look prettier?
Girls: Do you prefer to dress up or down? When do you feel the prettiest?

I Can't Remember This...

I miss my sister tonight.
This is a video of us on New Years. Okay so maybe we had some champagne, but for reals, I didn't know we were this weird.

Question of the blog:
Have any funny videos/pictures of good times with siblings or your closest friends? Share with me.

Bratz Dolls, Break Downs, and a Latte

Wow. Umm,... Sorry I haven't posted in days. A year, actually. Happy 2010 everyone, I hope you had a more eventful New Years than I did.

Basically what we did all night. Cry faces, Phantom of the Opera, Champagne, the works.
I have sooo much to blog about, so prepare for the following, plus more!
1. My hives.
2. New Years Resolutions.
3. Slacklining.
4. Christmas, church, photos.

And I've got some more up my sleeve, but I'm not going to give all of my secrets away in one swift blow! Don't be ridiculous.
I am now sitting in my favorite coffee shop in LA, Portfolio. After I drove Moorea's car about 20 feet before it broke down, I am a little shaken up and a bit frustrated to still be in Long Beach when I should be working tonight, and seeing my boyfriend in a few hours. I have plans, but I need to learn how to accept changes in my schedule, and accept them with a happy heart. New Years resolution worthy, me thinks.
I hope you are all doing well, I apologize profusely for the lack of posts. When people are actually home, I have things to do! But so many things I don't have time to blog about the things! What a vicious cycle indeed!

Question of the blog:
I know a few of you can't even remember your new years celebration this year. I ain't judgin! What was your most memorable new years?

Tie Up Your Boots!

5 Things I Love About Winter

1. Fireplaces.
What could be better than cozying up with someone (boyfriend) in front of a warm fireplace? Gah. Love it.

2. Victorian Christmas.
For those who don't live in Nevada County, we have a night market with Christmas carolers and vendors and hot chocolate and it just sets the season. Best.

4. Christmas Music
I'm not talking about cheesy Christmas tunes revamped by Taylor Swift, I'm talking about Nat King Cole and company playing in our living room as we decorate the tree.

3. "Home for the holidays"
Helloooo, all my favorite people come home! What could be better than that?!

5. Christmas Dinner
Dressing up pretty, eating our classic meal, and plum pudding. Plum pudding, how I adore thee. The perfect wrap-up to a wonderful day

Question of the blog:
What is one of your favorite things about wintertime?

Life In Color

Apple pie and fireplaces,
warm my core and leave me feeling satisfied.
Days of thanks and warm cozy beds,
cuddle-naps and hot coffee in big mugs.
Late night talks with brothers,
searching for cat videos and new phones.

We have a very merry Franksgiving,
as babies chased kitties
who chase toys thrown by parents.
Couples dance as the men play their guitars.
I'll sing Beatles songs along with them,
the women follow with shakers,
baby Jaxson dances.

Late nights, early mornings,
this week sees little sleep.
So many outings, you see all from your past.
Who knew the bars in Nevada City held so much.
Dancing in the kitchen,
with fist pumps and booty shakes.
I missed you.

Sisters united, laughing uncontrollably.
Our serious faces never work,
and the longer we are together, the sillier we get.
Love knows no boundaries,
no matter how far away from each other,
we are always close.

Pick ups and drop offs,
bad church services and non-drowsy allergy meds.
You, me, and Food Network.
We're cute together, you know that?
A kiss goodbye,
and we're back on our countdown.

My life in color,
the autumn brings life with the fall of the leaves.
They come and they go,
but you are the ones that bring the color to me.

Yellow

This will be the most thankful thanksgiving.
I have to say thank you to all of you. You are giving all of you to me. I'll keep you safe.

Thank you for everything.

Part Two.

Yesterday was probably one of the best Halloweens I have ever experienced. Work was a pain but making money is my game.

All of my coworkers and I were Greek Goddesses. We all got ready together and it was so fun being dressed up fun at work. There were some HILARIOUS costumes on customers last night.. We had trucker vampires complete with butt cracks and torn fishnets, and two of my favorite customers came in with the most incredible costumes that looked like they took hours.

Then we went to the Deadbeats concert, which was so much fun! We danced the night away with hippies and simply had loads of good times.

Alex and I. We danced for hours and I was so sweaty gross. love it.

Chaney, Jillian, and someone I don't know.

Dancing, deadbeats, goddesses, hippies. So much fun. I hope you had a great Halloween too!

Question of the blog:
Yesterday, I didn't hear The Monster Mash once! This is the first year I haven't heard it play. Thriller or This Is Halloween or anything in between, what was your favorite Halloween song as a kid?

In The Room Where You Sleep

Moorea posted this song a few days ago... I love it. And it doesn't hurt that the love of my life is singing. Oh Ryan Gosling.... You make me swoon.
And Halloween costumes just in time for the lovely holiday!

Question of the blog:
This year, I'm working on Halloween. I felt as though it wasn't as important to dress up and trick or treat this year, as it is that I save money. I think my coworkers and I are dressing up as Grecian Goddesses, which should be fun! Togas, braids, gold, cheap easy fun. What has been your favorite costume you've ever dressed up in?
