Live, Laugh, Love
So maybe I'm a total Bitter Betty today, but I have always had a problem with this American obsession with the phrase "live, laugh, love". Mainly because when I think, if I could minimize my goals in life into three words, starting with L, I usually don't think of those three. Sure they're all great, but doesn't "living" just come naturally in life? So that's already a given. Laughing is nice, but I think the "learning" I have done in my life has been so much more meaningful and beneficial in creating who I am today. "Love" is an interesting thing. I encourage you to really find what you consider to be love, not some Americanized meaning that ends unhappily.
"Love as if you've never loved before." If you've never loved before, take this piece of advice. Never forget any moment of love in your life. Every drop of love you experience shapes you into the love you will keep forever. I have loved a few special beings in my life, and forgetting those times would erase very vital information I have learned through my experiences on this earth. Through love, I have learned what I want in love, what I deserve as a human being and as a woman of God. I have learned what love can be and what love will never be. And I am still learning! Through trial and error, and mistakes and success, you learn what love is for you.
So yes, I encourage you to live, and to laugh, and to love, but know there's a lot more to life than three words that are hung up on your door frame.

Conviction Killed The Cat?
Growing up, I was raised with firm beliefs in justice and standing up for what is right. This has led me deeply into psychology and sociology. I recently found this tv show called What Would You Do?, where people are put in situations that are controversial, uncomfortable, or without a doubt wrong. After watching these episodes, I am filled with such conviction to stand up for what I believe in. I encourage you to watch this show, and think to yourself what you would do in situations like these. (Full episodes on Hulu HERE)
You never know the importance of your voice, unless you use it.
I hope that by watching these and other clips from this show, you will be willing to stand up for victims of all kinds. It's our job in this world to help and love each other. Everyone has the right to be protected, so do your part and make this world a better place.
Question of the blog:
Are you the type of person to stand up for what is right, or do you think it's better to stay out of the situation?

Down By The River
And all those lonely nights down by the river
Brought me bread and water, water in
But though i tried so hard my little darling
I couldn't keep the night from comin' in
Home. Down winding roads to the water's edge. Joanna Newsom and the Yuba River. I love you. Granite that curves around to cuddle you close. Warm sun, cold stream. Drops of water on your favorite book, as you dry off. Happy to be here, today.
Question of the blog:
When do you feel home?

Census
I WOULD RATHER:
walk on hot coals
not brush my teeth for a day
let a spider walk on my hand
THAN WORK TODAY.

Nineteen Shores
We hit May
this day marks
your baby's birth
and meadowlarks
No time to rest these tired eyes
as I travel to the ocean's shore
I've walked this world for nineteen years
Not once have been lead here before
In nineteen years I've seen three lands
East went West and West went South
I set my eyes on what I'd want
Listening to what came from your mouth
But it's my birthday tomorrow
and as I bite my tongue
I've remembered yesterday
I was nineteen years young
Those words that come just once a year
They roll right off your lips
Happy birthday to you, doll
has come and gone like sailing ships
Looking down the rusted boat
water splashing up the side
You and I are ever changing
Just like the ocean's tide.
We hit May
this day marks
your baby's birth
and meadowlarks
But it's my birthday tomorrow
and as I bite my tongue
I've remembered yesterday
I was nineteen years young

Beginning
“Today I begin to understand what love must be, if it exists. When we are parted, we each feel the lack of the other half of ourselves. We are incomplete like a book in two volumes of which the first has been lost. That is what I imagine love to be: incompleteness in absence.”
Edmond and Jules De Goncourt quotes

Quickly
Jeezo, sorry for the lack of posts lately! I have had a crazy week. My new job is expecting 20 hours a week from me, and I'm trying to study for finals and work at Sushi Q at the same time. It probably doesn't help that I scheduled two trips to San Diego in May, and am seeing Coheed and Cambria tomorrow. TOMORROW! I cannot wait.
Anyways, here's a quick recap from my weekend.
Now, off to bed. I have to wake up tomorrow, meet my Census boss at 8:15, print photos for Andy's mom at 8:45, be at Bible Study Fellowship by 9:15, and hopefully will have time to squeeze in a nap before I leave for Walnut Creek at 1, because I am going to see Coheed and Cambria, and I am about to pee my pants just thinking about it.
OKAY BYE!!!!!!!
