Brains

Last day at home, and day 4 of this migraine that is eating my brain. Went to the chiropractor and cried like a baby for half the appointment because it hurt so bad. Finally starting to pack, have yet to shower, dinner at 6. Excited for this adventure back down to SD, but my head hurts so much I worry that I won't enjoy my time. No need to hope, I am positive we will have a great time in San Luis, like always. Then down the coast, through LA, and probably be in San Diego on Monday. Jillian is staying with me for 2 1/2 weeks, we are buying disposable cameras, playing at the beach, traveling to new places, and I am so glad for the time we will spend together. Bittersweet days. Now migraine, please go away so I can be productive and excited.

Open Up

star wars shirt. running shorts. it's a funny day, with the wind blowing and the sun shining like it does every november. walking down the road, i can't help but smile. it's that still silence of the trees and fields. i'm shaky from the coffee i drank an hour ago. van morrison fills my ear. i'll take your advice and say fuck it all. tomorrow i'll chat with the art institute of seattle, los angeles, new england. what will i do, i'm not quite sure to be honest. lick my lips, pull up my hair into that messy bun you used to love. sit down at my computer and i write about children, and families, and communities, and societies. it's fun. next door my neighbors smoke in the living room, and they enjoy every second of it. and they love it and i love them and they love me. in the library, love is blooming from germany to norway and i can feel them smiling from here. it's the sound of going home. i'm in love with today and with you. thank you. beautiful ideas spill out of my mind onto this keyboard and come out completely wrong, but here it is. the french don't say i love you, but rather i am in love. that's what i am today. with nothing in particular, but with everything. and everyone. i don't have a lot, but that's what i do have. guitar strings without voices. sometimes this is just what i need. nothing is okay but i know it will be, and that's okay for now.

College Bathroom Parties, and Olsen Hands

My current living situation is in a suite-style apartment building, on the top floor, on the very corner. The neighbors that share my wall are foreign (I live at an International University), and in the past two days have I heard an array of men speaking Chinese, German, and possibly some middle eastern language I cannot point out. The strangest thing is, is that they are most definitely the loudest when they are in the bathroom, which mirrors mine as well. And there are always more than one in there at a time...

On a much more random note, I am always impressed at how much the Olsen twins can hold in their dainty little hands.

Question of the blog:
What is your living situation like?

Update.

My air conditioner has broken.

Windows open,
Blinds wave in the wind, inches from each other.
Lights are off,
And my bed calls my name, before the sun is set.

I am as decorated as can be so far. My room looks a lot more like me than I had expected when I first showed up. My next task is decorating the living room, because right now it's so hideous I can't even sit in it for more than 5 minutes.

Here is my room. Tada!

Question of the blog:
Are you the type of person that needs to decorate, or are all of your ideas in your mind, so you can be satisfied with a blank wall?

Puttin' Those In The Backpack

If there's anything you must know about me, it's that one of my favorite pastimes is deleting people off Facebook. I don't know what pleasure I find in it, but the satisfaction of deleting or denying friends us just so great for the ego!
One of my pet peeves about Facebook, though, is when people don't keep their profiles clean. Clean, meaning that they don't delete their activity, so half of their page is just "So and so is now friends with So and so." I am a cleaner.
In the process of cleaning up my profile (I sound like it's a chore, or something I do regularly... Which means I obviously need to get out more..), I decided to take a trip down memory lane as I kept clicking "Older Posts" at the bottom of my page. Let me tell you, I once was a much sassier woman. These are some of my favorite statuses I've written in the past.

Anne Alexandra Seal is going to punch microsoft or the government in the face, whichever i get to first. (Ahh, yes. When my computer was blue screening every day, and my voter registration wouldn't go through.)
Anne Alexandra Seal is "your head looks like it was stuck in a meat grinder" oh hey...thanks mom. (This was right after a hair cut that I loved. And obviously it didn't go over too well with the parents.)
Anne Alexandra Seal is hoping she can find her voodoo doll before it finds her. (I had this weird voodoo doll keychain. I never found it. That's probably the reason for my continual bad luck.)

Anne Alexandra Seal cried thirty tears while watching the season one finale of Avatar. (no, but really.)
Anne Alexandra Seal 's capa was detated (self explanitory.)
Anne Alexandra Seal is moving to Narnia forever. Kbye. (Still going to happen one day. Just you wait. I bet NARNIA doesn't have universities!)
Anne Alexandra Seal kittens and cameras and dancing with hippies, boyfriend and sewing and new sets of sharpies, dancing to deadbeats with angels with wings, these are a few of my favorite things. (That was a good night.)

My life is so random.

Question of the blog:
What do you think should be a rule in Facebook etiquette?

Letter To The Editor

Dear C.S. Lewis,
You know I love you dearly. The books you have written are always on your mind, your knowledge is an overflowing fountain I love to dive into time after time. But I feel like I'm pulling teeth getting through The Four Loves right now! It's taken me much to long to finish a book with 141 pages!
Nevertheless, I am motivated today. And I am going to finish it. Today. I have a list of books that keep piling up, that I want to start chipping away at. And I'm not being mean when I say this, but I think we need to go on a little break. I promise you're still on my list to read! I just have a few before you. Ones that are lighter reads. Know that you are my hero and I love diving into the waters that are your mind. This book is just a little thicker and colder than usual. Not to say I am not retaining what you have to offer! I am receiving it! Slowly but surely. I pray that the next 26 pages are not as difficult as the last 115. Wish me luck....
Love Always,
Alexandra Seal

Take Flight

A.D.D. sometimes has its ups.

My older sister wrote a song one night over winter break last year, I think, and it was around the same time I first learned to make paper cranes. Today I made cloth cranes. I love them. It's like they have little personalities now that they have stitching and weaving.

Listen to my sister's music here.

Fly.

Question of the blog:
Finger painting, scrapbooking, making blueprints of houses, do you have any art projects you like to do? I enjoy origami and making collages from magazines and photos! I'd love to hear about what you like to do.

Sista, Sista, Never Knew How Much I Missed Ya.

I almost peed my pants I was laughing so hard when I first saw this on my sister's blog.

Now that you've seen the most hilarious video of my life, I thought I might as well bring up my sister again. I miss her. So much.

Getty Museum

Uncle Toby's bathroom. Where we always take photos.

Maria's. I feel like every time we go to Maria's we decide to look disgusting in every photo. (See next photo as well)

So hot.

Moorea, Miles, and Zandra day. Moorea is so beautiful.

Blockbuster. We have gone through such silly hair transformations!

Thanksgiving 2005.

I miss her oodles of noodles. And I thought I'd add this to my A.D.D. label/list because we both suffer from it considerably. Love ya.

Stuff From All Over

A year ago today, I graduated from high school.
So. Weird.
Tomorrow is my first day at Wolf Mountain Camp.
I am reallllly nervous, but more excited than anything. I am in dire need to get out of this place for a bit. What's nice is that I will be gone during the week, but will be home from Friday nights to Sunday mornings, which will give me a little time to myself, one night to make some money working at Sushi Q, and a morning to spend some time with God at my church before heading back to camp.
This first week is just staff training, no campers yet. Since I've never even been to the camp, I don't really know how it's going to go.. But what I'm guessing is that I won't be using my phone at all this week or have any contact with the outside world. By next weekend, I'll have my address and stuff that I will put on here, so if you feel the urge to send me letters and or care packages with yummy candy and my favorite foods *hint hint* you can just send them away to me. =]
I wanted to give a shout out to all of my regular readers.. The past few days a couple of my friends have let me know how much they love my blog and I really appreciate it.. Really!! I'm so glad people find me even moderately interesting, and I'm sorry my past few blogs have been sort of .. blah. This has been a rough past couple of weeks. I promise I'll post lots of fun things over the weekends about pushing small children off of large wooden structures and stuff.. Just kidding... Maybe...
But anyways, thank you for reading and supporting me. You guys are awesome.
I've got a few silly topics that I hopefully will be posting tonight while I finally start packing or tomorrow morning before I leave for camp. Oh, procrastination.

Question of the blog:
Random, I know, but should I grow out my bangs or cut them shorter again? It seems like there is an equal amount of people that prefer them short to long. Darn!

Life Advice 101.2

Sometimes I post a new blog every day.. Sometimes I go like a week before thinking of something that might be funny or at least pleasing to the eyes for you, my dear reader. And I know I posted something yesterday (new hair cut if you didn't look already), but I feel like I haven't posted anything legitimate in a while. So here is an update on my life... But not really.
My boyfriend is home for the next 6 months, and my friend from New Hampshire who is my boyfriend's best friend's girlfriend ('s dog's mother's step uncle's...) is here at my house for the next 9 days, sooo I've been sort of really busy. So this is my 2 second schpeal on the past week or so of my life.
1. I am obsessed with Pushing Daisies. And I am incredibly mad that they only made 2 seasons, becuase I could probably watch that show every day for the rest of my life. As long as Lee Pace never left. Ahh love<3
2. You know you've worked somewhere long enough when regulars start giving you love advice. Read my love advice I got from Caroline's Coffee regulars here. This week has been full of life advice from a few people in particular, and I'll be honest, it's sort of nice getting it from them. It's like they have finally accepted me as a Sushi Q girl. Sweet. I have stood the test of time.

A Formal Apology

To the guy who I accidentally cut off today,
I'm sorry. On very rare occasions, I am overwhelmed with the beauty of the music I am listening to, and when I come to a 4-way stop sign I don't realize who's turn it is. When this happens, I just space, and I think oh maybe it's my turn? So I go, but this time around, it was your turn. And you pulled out to go but I cut you off, and you made some rude gestures to me and a face like "wtf mate?"I didn't mean to cut you off, or ruin your day, or steal your turn.
It was an honest mistake, and I hope you can forgive me.
Know that if I could, I would have taken back that moment of stupidity and I would have let you go first. But time cannot be erased, nor mistakes like that be fixed. If I could have I would have gotten out of my car and given you a hug and said, "Oh, I'm such an idiot! Silly me! I'm sorry!" But alas, when in a car in the middle of the street, you must drive. Please accept this humble apology. I will be more careful from now on.
Love forever and always,
Alexandra Seal
(This might be the guy that I cut off. Maybe not, because I just found this picture on Google.)

Question of the Blog:
In a driving situation, are you the aggresive driver or the one that feels sorry for everything?

Connected! Connected! Protected! Protected!

This is going to be a quick, weird, random blog. So bear with me.
1. The title is from something my sister always sings. I miss her tonight.
2. In my quest to find Christian music that isn't played 3 billion times a day on the radio, I found some really nice songs... Except they were by a guy who is on the radio 3 billion times a day. Switchfoot lovers and haters: come together and listen to Jon Foreman, the lead singer of Switchfoot. He has nice little side projects and this song is off of his album "Fall"

3. Sometimes I get these ideas where I think, "Wow, this blog is going to be awesome. What a great idea, Zandra!" And then I get on blogger and my friend had posted a blog about the same exact thing 5 minutes ago. Perf.
4. On that note, I might as well reiterate what my friend Jonathan wrote in his blog, that I love Spring Forward. Working at a restaurant, it was eery and annoying going to work as the sun was setting. I like when the sun sets at a reasonable time.
5. I watched Tarzan tonight. I am a baby when it comes to movies in general. Make it a Disney movie and the risk of me crying probably doubles. Put animals in that movie and There is no way I can't cry. I don't know what it is. Might as well add this video:

Question of the blog:
What movie (Disney or not) never ceases to make you cry every time you watch it?

Unexpected Guests, Welcome!

Yesterday I got to hang out with one of my best friends who I rarely see anymore, because he attends Cuesta college in SLO. We went to sushi (of course) and .. I just remembered that the rest of my NC Roll is in the back of my car. I hope I remember to get that out soon... Anyways, as I was leaving, I saw some family friends who I used to babysit for. I was not expecting this, but they brought up my blog and how they read it! And then their daughter said, "was it you who put up that funny video of your sister?" Oh yes.. That was me.. Tye dye, head band, high socks and all.
For your viewing pleasure, here it is!
(UPDATE) Whoah.. It has an extreme delay. For a better view of it, check it out on my facebook.

Oh the world of online networking..
I never thought that they would read my blog.. I may just be lying to myself, but maybe there are a lot of people who read my blog that I never thought would! So, world, if this is your first time reading, hello and enjoy my blog!
Oh! They also did not fail to mention to their dinner guest who was a mathematitician, how much I hated math! Oh joy! Although they did recommend a book for me, the name escapes me right now but it basically went something like, "How To Not Hate Math." I should probably check that out some time. I think I could probably devote an entire blog column about my hatred of mathematics. Just give me the earth, some kitties and the Chronicles of Narnia, and I'm fine. I don't need math to love life, nor do I need it to clean teeth for a living. Take that!
But all of this is besides the point that I am welcoming you, my dear reader, to the wonderful.. scratch that, interesting and oftentimes odd and fanciful world of, well, my brain. In a blog. On the internet. Enjoy!

Fast

My boyfriend is gone for the weekend. I think I will go on a fast from all things internet for a little while. No facebook, blogger, flickr, youtube, wwtdd, myspace, random google searches that are completely useless...
Things to do this weekend:
1. Clean my room
2. Not go on the internet
3. Hang out with someone I haven't seen in a while (any takers?)
4. Work on homework.
5. Go to sleep before midnight. Every night. Thursday through Sunday. This will happen.
6. Cut my own hair but if that is a failure, go to a real salon for the first time in 3 years.
7. Spend some quality time with God.
My goal is to stay off until Monday. Let's hope for the best.

Style A.D.D.

My mind is going crazy today.
I want a change. I feel as though I am in a style rut. Every 6 months or so I get really tired of how I look.. Everything from hairstyle to earrings to makeup to clothes to shoes.
I am in that tired state right now...
Maybe dye? No... I'm trying to stay subtle for now, I don't want to do something too drastic. (Blondification of 2006)
Cut my hair? No no no. I am satisfied with my long hair. (Drastic cut of 2006)
I could burst out in colors again.. Although I looked like the ultimate high schooler. Possibly junior high schooler. (2006)
I could go back to daily scarves... But those are super in right now. (Spunkmaster Z of 2007)
Blech. So over matchy matchy. I was so baby. (2005?)

Earrings? Took my gauges out, again. Maybe I will start wearing my big earrings again. (Oct. 08)
Or I could at least start doing my hair pretty from time to time.. (Feb. 2008)
I feel like it was just last month that I felt completely awesome and somewhat stylish.. Wait.. I DID feel completely awesome and somewhat stylish last month! I need a change!
Must think of cool new awesome style or at least a new one that makes me feel unique and pretty!
I just bought some really cute flouncy clothes, lots of purples and blacks... Maybe movies and books will give me inspiration. I will update my fellow readers soon on my discoveries.

Cool Alexandra, 2007?
Flirty Alexandra, 2006

Military Alexandra, 2006
Funky Alexandra, 2007
I was so cute once.

Happy Thoughts, Happy Thoughts.

Hi.
Today is the first day of Sierra College's spring semester 2009. Music Appreciation class = awesome. My friend Justin wants to take a voice class with me, so I might drop out of Ceramics. But then I would have to take another class because Voice is only 2 units and I need 3. So then I was thinking I could just take the math class I have been dreading, because I failed it last semester.
I just want to cry. I don't like school. I want to be a mom. I want to be a wife. I want to be a Christian. I would settle for a crappy job to have those things.. But then I think about the women I know that never went to college, and I feel like they live such deprived lives. They are stuck at home, and can't find a job now that their kids are out of the house.
I have to go to college. I just hate it so much. It is the first day of the semester and I am already thinking like this! I want to take the math class because I feel to some extent I am letting my family down by taking easy classes. Yet I feel worse when I take hard classes and fail them.
Looking on the Cabrillo website, huzzah for the 2 year program to get my dental hygiene squared away! But holy crap... 5 days a week for 2 years from 8 am to 5 pm. And there is a 2 year wait. What will I do for 2 years?
I keep thinking about how over Winter break, a few of my friends said to me, "Zandra, you better be out of Nevada County by the time I get home from my mission." "Promise me you won't become even more of a townie."
I want to just crawl in a little hole and cry right now. Today I feel hopeless. Sierra sucks. Classes suck. Math sucks. Sushi Q sucks. Nevada County sucks. Everything sucks. I am such a child. I keep thinking about the dark night of the soul and wonder, how crappy does my life have to get to feel like that? I guess we'll see come April. I am thinking happy thoughts.. I am thinking happy thoughts...
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens.. Freshly baked cookies with a cold glass of milk.. napping all day with my favorite person.. Hearing new music that's sweet to my ear... Beautiful Sunday mornings and my dad's sermons... Think happy thoughts, Alexandra..

Christmas Travels

All is dark as we make our way to Sacramento. I wake up occasionally to Bella taking the entire back seat over, and I scrunch up to the window. Five in the morning. My thermos works  exceedingly well, and as I write this at 8:30 at night, I am finally able to drink the tea I made 15 1/2 hours ago. I woke up to fields all around us, and they were playing tricks on my eyes. Close to Bakersfield…We stopped at a Chevron station. In the bathroom, with no toilet seats (sick.), someone had scratched,
“Jesus is Lord -
Messiah -
Believe -
Repent -Live Forever”
Into the paper towel dispenser. Of course, we played the Chanticleer Christmas album, and sang along to it all. Oh, choir. How I miss you.

I feel like I should not be in my car, but Mike’s old Honda Civic with him, Annie, and Molly. We should be listening to Jason Mraz as we drive through the dinosaur mountains and making faces at everyone  in Philip’s car.
Over the summer, some of my best friends and I road tripped down to Seal Beach and went to Disneyland. We wanted to go again before Mike went on his mission and Brian did his internship, but it didn’t work out. Oh well. I would have liked to spend new years at Disneyland with them.
I’m glad to have these couple of days to spend with my grandparents, although I am sad I am not going to be in Disneyland tomorrow like we all wanted.

Chanticleer fills my ears with wonderful sounds.
Failed attempts at watching August Rush.
Chapters of Stardust.
We roll down the windows to feel the salty air, and my fly-aways tickle my face.
In Seal Beach, we go on an In N Out run. Always a must.
Christmas seems gone, and the beach is in eyesight.
My thoughts are scattered, and I want to be home for New Years… But I don’t think I will be…I wish I had internet at my grandparents.

As I look around here, I don’t think I could ever call Los Angeles home. Give me the mountains, small towns, community, winding roads and four seasons. The forest, and fields. Flannel for the cold nights. The River! The smell of nature and the rain. Clear nights where all the stars are shining for you. Small book stores. Yes, yes, yes!
I sit at Portfolio Café, drinking a latte and glancing down at my henna tattoos on my feet. I should probably cut my fingernails.

Tomorrow, we shall spend our gift cards like champs at Nordstrom Rack.
Lunch on the balcony of my great Uncle's apartment in Laguna Hills.
We will lay on the beach, but the water will surely be too cold to swim in.
I'll take my chances and wear my awesome yellow swimsuit, and wade in the waters of champions.

Vlog... Ooh Kitty!

Guys... I just bought a webcam! This is awesome!
See my A.D.D. in all its glory!
So maybe the whole vlogging thing didn't work out..

These are pretty cool!

So i probably will never post a vlog because I can't handle the concentration. But I just wanted to share the excitement of my new webcam! I hope this made you smile hahah =]
