Celebrations

So, who's going to be Sushi Q's newest waitress pretty soon? THIS GIRL. I cannot tell you how happy I am.

Boots and cats-ing. Because I can.

To Sleep Or Celebrate

Took a nap just so I could stay up until midnight tonight. It's my 21st birthday tomorrow, and I'm so excited! But I'm so tired I'd rather just go to bed than stay up. This whole "getting old" deal is not as great as it sounded!

ALSO,
I had a really random dream where I was talking about Etsy during a meal, and this girl thought I was talking about the meat. The next meal I went to, I heard someone ask her what was in the ravioli and she said "Oh, it's Etsy."
So random.

Puttin' Those In The Backpack

If there's anything you must know about me, it's that one of my favorite pastimes is deleting people off Facebook. I don't know what pleasure I find in it, but the satisfaction of deleting or denying friends us just so great for the ego!
One of my pet peeves about Facebook, though, is when people don't keep their profiles clean. Clean, meaning that they don't delete their activity, so half of their page is just "So and so is now friends with So and so." I am a cleaner.
In the process of cleaning up my profile (I sound like it's a chore, or something I do regularly... Which means I obviously need to get out more..), I decided to take a trip down memory lane as I kept clicking "Older Posts" at the bottom of my page. Let me tell you, I once was a much sassier woman. These are some of my favorite statuses I've written in the past.

Anne Alexandra Seal is going to punch microsoft or the government in the face, whichever i get to first. (Ahh, yes. When my computer was blue screening every day, and my voter registration wouldn't go through.)
Anne Alexandra Seal is "your head looks like it was stuck in a meat grinder" oh hey...thanks mom. (This was right after a hair cut that I loved. And obviously it didn't go over too well with the parents.)
Anne Alexandra Seal is hoping she can find her voodoo doll before it finds her. (I had this weird voodoo doll keychain. I never found it. That's probably the reason for my continual bad luck.)

Anne Alexandra Seal cried thirty tears while watching the season one finale of Avatar. (no, but really.)
Anne Alexandra Seal 's capa was detated (self explanitory.)
Anne Alexandra Seal is moving to Narnia forever. Kbye. (Still going to happen one day. Just you wait. I bet NARNIA doesn't have universities!)
Anne Alexandra Seal kittens and cameras and dancing with hippies, boyfriend and sewing and new sets of sharpies, dancing to deadbeats with angels with wings, these are a few of my favorite things. (That was a good night.)

My life is so random.

A Moment Of Childhoodedness

I live in a town that is about 45 minutes from the nearest shopping mall. Kids in my town call it a "trip" to the mall, or even to In N Out. When I was younger, I felt so left out when I couldn't go to the mall every weekend, because that was cool on Disney shows. But now that I am older, I sort of have a new opinion on shopping malls and the populars.
Even now, as I go to the mall to buy glasses or spend a gift certificate, I feel like I'm not one of "them". Oh, you know who I'm talking about.. Mall girls! (Not to be confused with call girls.) But really. Those girls at the mall that give you the look down because you're not wearing the shortest skirt, and you're looking in the sale rack. As a kid, I was mortified when I was seen wearing something deemed "unstylish" by the popular girls.
The other day, though, as I walked around the mall, I had sort of a revelation. I am so glad I am not comfortable here. I am so glad I am not a mall girl. I am a dirt loving, camp song singing, river swimming, unstyled hair, Nevada City girl. I always have been, and I am so blessed to know that today, and not have insecurity or uncertainty that I am not the prettiest, most up kept girl.
Sort of a childish moment in my life, but I just sort of needed that humble moment. I am so glad I was raised here, 45 minutes away from the nearest mall. Salute my shorts!

Days Past

Septum piercings, squinty eyes. Signs of the days of high school graduation.

After almost a year of being in sparse contact with one of my favorite people in this world, I finally found my Canadian missionary friend's email. That last part doesn't make sense. My friend Brian Preece is a missionary up in Canada, and I didn't have his email until now.
Moving on. In his email, he asked to send a few photos of adventures from the summer of 2008, known as the best summer ever. After looking at all of this and being filled with nostalgia, among other emotions, I decided I might as well share some with you. And here we go!

Oh, Disneyland. This was the first trip for all of us that really signified our independence. Somehow, all of our parents agreed we could drive to LA for 4 days and play in Disneyland. It was awesome. Definitely a great last Hooray for our choir group.

Oh Brian, always causing some commotion. I don't know how he obtained this, but Annie's children are to be Brian's slaves in the future. Doesn't make sense to me either. This was on the way to Disneyland.

Senior ball 2008. Annie and I got ready together, and after Facebooking and watching movies too long, we realized we had NO time to get ready for ball, so we both went overboard on our makeup and didn't have time to fix it. And then I went with Galen Fraser, who wore a white tux. And it was my birthday. What a night.

Ah, the many days of clay class, where Jacob Moultrie and I would hang out, make ugly clay masks that resembled pigs and mythical animals with tusks. This was the last day of clay, where Mr. Slavonic the clay teacher gave me one last speed walking lesson. He's professional.. But I mean that.

Practicing for graduation. There was WAY too much drama going into this line of people, and where we would sit, and such as. In the end, we had smiles on our faces (most of us) and proceeded to graduate without too much more angst (except for reactions to my septum) and then spent all night dancing and having fun at Grad Night.

It's been a while since I looked at these. When I looked at these photos a year after them being taken, I thought, this feels like yesterday. To be honest, it doesn't anymore. It's crazy to think that none of us are the same. That's not a bad thing at all! The way life plays out is just funny though. I do miss each and every one of the people that were part of my life the summer of graduation. Despite not being where we all were back then, it's beautiful to see each person growing up individually. It'll be crazy to reunite with everyone at our reunions..

Makin' A Buzz

These are the funniest things I have seen all day.

Dead flies: cartoons by Magnus Muhr

See more of these awesomely gross fly carcass photographs on his website.
I hate the thought of dead anything, let alone creepy little flies. For some reason though, these photographs make me laugh so hard. This guy has such an imagination!

Question of the blog:
When confronted with a bug, say a large spider, are you the type of person to man your battle stations and attack with full force, or run like a little baby and refuse to enter the room again until someone else has handled the situation?
