We Don't Need An S.O.S.
Let the light in, and the grass
Water flows without the dam
So break it down, and make us clean
The summer heat is back again
Blowing through my hair
Tangles down to the water
Distance makes me feel farther
As I hang up I feel less whole
So sail me through the winding road
I know I'm one among the fence
I read through you, Viva, alive
My arms are stretched, opened wide
Send me out saying
Smash my fists against the wall
I'm breaking down this fence
The water's cold down to your bone.

If You Insist
I will spend all night watching trash tv and eating Swedish Fish. You're fault, not mine. Just sayin'.

The Light And The Glass
Heavy breathing slows its pulse
As bodies grow used to the touch
Arms wrapped and legs around
I have never felt this much
Shadows reflected off your skin
Light corners your neck gently around
and down into a deep chest
Rest your head to hear the sound
It's warm as water glazes your skin
slowly racing towards your feet
the summer sun is here for good
so let me hear your heart beat.

This Year, Baby
I am shopping for school this fall. I've never done this before, so it's a totally new and fun experience of lists! Of course, Andy thinks my choice of bedding is ridiculous, but I love these. My suite is all wood paneling, so I need something to brighten up the room, you know? I was also thinking of buying material and just covering one of the walls. We'll see. Until then, if you're interested in what my home for the next year will look like, watch this video of Alliant International University tour. If you're just looking for what my suite will look like, jump to 4:54 in the vid. I really enjoy how so many of my friends are interested in my life, and what my plans are in life. Thank you, that is so motivating for me in many aspects of my life, with blogging, photography, starting new adventures, and doing what's best for me. You are all such lovely people, and I thank you for the support.
Question of the blog:
How was your housing the first year you moved away?
AND
Out of the four pieces of bedding above, which would you choose?
Surface
I am a part of a generation that is constantly being bombarded with images. From Tumblr, to Facebook albums, to Stumble Upon, and everything in between. We have such potential to turn into incredible people filled with knowledge on art and beauty, but instead we just flip through pages, stimulating our brains with shots of things that don't teach us or allow us to really grow in our pursuit of becoming a better art critic. Scrolling and scrolling of photos and I have gained nothing. Reblog, like, comment, nothing.
Question of the blog:
What does beauty mean to you?

A Day In The Life Of A College Kid
Today, I am putting together my schedule for school this fall. San Diego is becoming more and more of a reality. I can't wait! So here's the deal, I've got morning classes Monday through Thursday, World Religions, English, and Math. Now, I must add an art class I'm not really interested in taking.. Or maybe I should just take Spanish?
5 UNITS? Really? For a Spanish class? If you add the word "requirement" to anything, you know I'll be unmotivated. I'll think about it. Until then..
I'm taking my vitamins and am going to prepare for some singing with old friends. Today, I am happy for the music in my life, and my wonderful boyfriend who I miss incredible amounts.
Question of the blog:
Are you in school? What are you taking this fall? If you're not in school, what are your plans for the fall?

My Last Night On Earth
I'm just saying. It's 1:57 am, and there are scary noises outside. Like dragging, and crunching, and it sounds like a strong animal. My windows are open, so I am preparing for a zombie to attack at any moment. I am so scared. Also- There is this hideous bug in my room that is addicted to the light, so I am not turning my light of tonight. Hopefully it fries itself while I am sleeping in the fetal position on the couch. But really.

Moving Forward
I have a dear friend from the East coast that is living in Idaho for the time being. In July, I will be visiting her and another lovely soul who is from the Northwest. We will be colliding all of our coasts and personalities and photos and ideas and adventures into 9 days full of complete and utter madness, and I mean that in the best possible way.
Chelsie, Symone, and I all met about a year and a half ago. Through now-somewhat-estranged friends, and some very life changing moments, I connected with these two and have remained good friends with them ever since. Last year they visited my home, so now I'm going to visit theirs! I can't wait for the adventures that take place. Among the many are:
1. The dunes plus bonfire
2. Yellowstone National Park
3. Bear World
4. Jackson Hole
5. Salt Lake City
6. Grand Teton National Park
7. Kitten shelter
I was hoping for a great summer adventure, and I am so grateful to have this opportunity to reconnect with friends I haven't seen in a while, and visit places I have never been to! I love traveling, I love exploring, I love adventuring, I love friends.
This summer has already been filled with many let downs, and changes in plans, but I am learning to make the best of the situations I am in. Turning those hardships into new opportunities has been a blessing to me.
God is teaching me continually, in the difficult places where He calls me to completely rely on His plan, to the blessings of relationships where love is truly moving. At this moment I am especially thankful for my lovely boyfriend, who is not only a person who inspires me to pursue what I love, but a man who encourages me to do the best I can, and to remain committed to what I do in life. But I'll brag about him more in another blog. hehe
As of now, I am feeling complete. I am so overwhelmed by God's work in my life. Where You go, I go.

Jeweled
My darling sister's ETSY shop reopens tomorrow at 8 am pst. Get ready for some beautiful turquoise, chunky rocks, book necklaces, and some pretty little sewing. I am so proud of all of her hard work, and admire how much time she puts into something that she enjoys so much. Moorea inspires me in all aspects of life. Go check out her reopening on ETSY quick, before all of these pieces are gone!

We're All Fine
This brings me so much sadness today. As someone who feels as much as I do, I try and avoid exposing myself to tragic things. But after hearing stories after stories about how animals and people are being killed, and states such as Louisiana suffering from the oil moving to the beaches, I can't hide how sad this truly makes me. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families that have been affected and devastated by this, to the poor innocent animals that have to suffer from humanities faults, and to the ecosystem that has to take so much from us, and is expected to always be fine.

In Three.
The water is laced into my shoes
like threads that were always meant to be there.
We walk and capture all that is here
I never go this way.
This smile, you see, is one of many
she anticipates the days to come and what they hold.
Zippers hold all that's inside
keep me safe as I drive to new lands.
One I will call my home.

Fairy Tea
As I ate my sushi, I sat and watched girls dancing, girls laughing, boys drinking, and paying. I looked down and saw the brown and black speckled table tops I have eaten at so many times. Two guitars and dual voices sing a haunting melody at the open mic. My legs are crossed and I set my chopsticks side by side. Fairy tea, exchanges and tips. Chatting about work, and how busy this Wednesday night turned out to be, I wave goodbye as I walk down Commercial Street. A fond farewell. We will see you tomorrow.
Finish my drink, but not before the lid leaks. Rice milk sends me home, to a silent, gentle, song of good nights.
